Abstract
Identity Federation is past the hype cycle and has already evolved into complex inter-application connections across and within distributed enterprises. However, even though real benefits are being gained by organizations that are recognizing its potential, equally "real" pitfalls around standards, security and business processes must not be ignored.
As enterprises scale and expand their federated architectures, there is a danger that enterprises following opportunistic, product-based implementations may build security architectures that do not scale with the anticipated growth of identity federation. Furthermore, these implementations must remain open and interoperable to leverage the full range of federation capabilities, such as the ability to provide more granular identity management capabilities.
To help avoid these mistakes, this session provides a practical, real-world overview of Federation Oriented Architectures based on the Web services standards such WS-Security, SAML and the Liberty Alliance. Based on current-use case studies, learn how enterprises are leveraging identity management solutions to secure and manage web services flows utilized in identity federation transactions.
